Older adults may want to look into a hospital confinement plan, which can help cushion them financially should they become ill or injured. These plans can help cover some of the out-of-pocket medical and non-medical costs. Such products "can help employees protect themselves from the financial risk associated with a hospital stay," said Susan Coffer, vice president for marketing and products at Colonial Life and Accident Insurance Company. "They can use the benefits to pay for medical expenses, as well as other expenses such as the mortgage, daycare and groceries that don't stop just because you're in the hospital." |
