In the past, most information regarding cancer survivors focused on Americans over the age of 65 and used information from Medicare. In order to get a look at younger patients, Short's team evaluated those with the disease between the ages of 25 and 64. "This research is important because cancer survivors are a sympathetic group for calling attention to the challenges that many people face in paying for healthcare," Short explained. "Almost everybody has a friend or someone in their family who has had cancer, so it resonates." |
