Breast cancer screening ( mammograms)

Medicare covers screening mammograms to check for breast cancer once every 12 months for all women with Medicare who are 40 and older.

Medicare covers one baseline mammogram for women between 35–39. You pay nothing for the test if the doctor or other qualified health care provider accepts assignment.

Note: Part B also covers diagnostic mammograms more frequently than once a year when medically necessary. You pay 20% of the Medicare -approved amount for diagnostic mammograms, and the Part B deductible applies.
